This variety has gorgeous flowers that open as dark burgundy and fade to a pretty dusky lilac with a yellow centre. Planted as companion plants, they can draw pests away from vegetable plants like tomatoes and squash. They also make a wonderful crop, harvesting leaves as a substitute for peppery rocket which is prone to bolt in summer, edible petals for salads and cakes and even the green seed which can be preserved and eaten like capers.
